Revised Minimum Wages in Madhya Pradesh From April 2018

Minimum wages rate have been revised by the Madhya Pradesh government. The new rate of Minimum wages in Madhya Pradesh is effective from 01st April 2018. 

Minimum wages rate is prescribed by the state governments for the benefit of employees working in private sector establishments of the state. This rate is revised half yearly keeping in mind the prevailing rate of inflation. Below are the revised rates of minimum wage by Madhya Pradesh for first half of the financial year 2018-19.

For the purpose of calculating monthly minimum wage of any employee, total number of working days considered in a month is 26.

Rate of minimum wages are separately prescribed for state government employees (Daily wages), Tobacco, Bidi, Agarbatti units and Press employees.

Professional Tax Rate Revision

Professional Tax rates in Madhya Pradesh were also revised by the government in the Finance Budget 2018. Employer needs to take the revised rate of deduction from April 2018 onwards.

Provident Fund Rate Change for Women Employees

Central government in Finance Budget 2018, announced a special rate of 8% for employee’s provident fund contribution of new women employees joining the social security scheme for the first time. Though, employer’s contribution to provident fund would remain the same.

New financial year always gives an opportunity to employers to re-assess the cost to company for each and every employee after looking at all the statutory revisions necessary to be made. The revised minimum wages rate is the most important part of it.
