Umang App marks beginning of the M-governance era of the Modi government as it brings the government closer to the citizens of Digital India. Employees Provident Fund Department (EPFO) has taken a step further for digital ease of services to the employees registered with the Social Welfare scheme.

UMANG app acts as a medium through which the common citizen can avail different government services (state, center, and regional), including the EPFO services.

UAN- Aadhaar Link

Duplicate and multiple accounts have been a problem for the EPFO department since a very long time. EPFO has introduced Universal Account Number (UAN) and has linked it with Aadhar using the government’s mobile UMANG app. UAN helps members to have a unique Aadhaar verified account so that it is ease for them to withdraw or transfer their EPF deposits.

Any EPFO member/registered employee can

  • Download the Umang App,
  • Select EPFO department,
  • Select Ekyc Services and
  • Link their Aadhaar number with their UAN.

EPF Member Passbook

Another step that has been taken to advance the process of linking Aadhar with EPFO is with the help of it the person can check the PF balance and last contribution made.

Any registered employee having a UAN can view the transactions including deposits and withdrawal both in the form of passbook for current and previous employers.

This feature is available on Umang App under the Employee centric services of EPFO department.

EPF Withdrawal

Over the time, the Employees Provident Fund Organization has initiated several steps to make the settlement procedure process smoother. And to further ease the process, an employee can easily withdraw the contributions made towards the Employee’s Pension scheme (subject to conditions) and Employees Provident Fund Scheme, on leaving service, superannuation, termination or at the time of retirement.

Any employee can also withdraw the contributions made towards EPF scheme before leaving the service for various purposes such as buying home, marriage etc. therefore known as Advance.

Tracking of claim submitted through Umang App is also possible with the help of UAN authentication.

Though it is not compulsory to link UAN with Aadhar, but doing so can make the life simpler and productive. It could act as a breezer for the common man.   With this account number, managing the EPF account, withdrawing the money and transferring the PF money could be much easier.

In most of the cases UAN no is provided by the employer and the employee has to just get activated by providing the relevant information. It is a permanent account number which will remain the same throughout the career span.

Digital Jeevan Pramaan/Pension

Every year, pensioners are required to generate their Life / Jeevan Praman certificate to ensure that they are alive and their pension remains intact.

Earlier senior citizens had to visit the government offices in order to generate their certificates and they had to fill the life certificate/ Jeevan Pramaan form which use to consume a lot of time and effort.

Now with Umang app, one can easily generate their digital Jeevan Pramaan / life certificate. This easy way facility for pensioners is certainly good as they will not have to waste their time standing in queues. This will also reduce corruption as pension life certificate is generated online without the human interference.

Umang App is becoming a one stop solution for the employees to avail services from EPFO department. Online services will reduce time and effort spent on these processes of the department and bring more transparency to the process.
