Kia Motors SP SUV to Impact Mahindra XUV, Maruti Brezza and Jeep Compass

The 8th largest automaker Kia Motors has been in news after it displayed powerful cars in Auto Expo 2018 in Greater Noida. With the launch of Made in India SP Concept Sports Utility Vehicle the company will be making its foray in the Indian market.

It is estimated that the company will invest 2 billion dollars with a capacity of 3 lakh units and this launch will witness a pleasant way of driving experience on Indian roads. Here are the details for the same.

Kia Motors is a part of Hyundai flagship brand and will be developed in the same lines like Hyndai Creta. Both Kia SP and Hyundai Creta will be of same size and will be able to accommodate five passengers. The technical details with respect to engine options will be the same.

Kia SP SUV- Technical Details- What to expect?

The SP Concept Car has a whole new set of edgy features that will make the competitors envious like:

  • It will have new headlamps with two design elements for better illumination.
  • At the rear the SP SUV concept car will also feature a two tone design that look impactful and not forcibly designed.
  • The SUV car also features wide wheels that a typical SUV car has and a skid plate design on the front and rear bumper.
  • The car has a cabin that features 5 sears and a digital instrument cluster.

It is aesthetically designed and is inspired by Indian heritage. Apart from the car will feature premium interiors with right amount of leather upholstery. A large touch screen infotainment with Android Auto an Apple CarPlay will be imbibed.  The car maker has made adequate safety provisions like 6 airbags in its top variant and ABS+EBD+BA features are standard across all the variants.

Kia Motors SP SUV Expected Price?

The base variant of the car will be available around Rs 15 lakh and top variant will be around Rs 18 lakh or above. Being a locally manufactured, the Kia SP Concept car will be sold at a less price. At the price variant, it will compete with Mahindra XUV 500, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Hexa or a base model Jeep Compass. The car should hit the road by mid 2019.

Why Andhra Pradesh to Make in India?

It is planning to  start out its sports utility vehicle in Andhra Pradesh by mid 2019 because Andhra Pradesh has been ranked at number 1 spot in World Bank Ease of Doing Business in Indian states. Kia Motors has already signed MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to build a manufacturing plant. This will definitely give a momentum to the jobless (estimated that it it will give job to at least 4.25 lakh people) Indian economy and fuel up Make in India program. The APIIC has offered  535.50 acres for the manufacturing plant.  Kia Motors will expand its production capacity 1 lakh units in the coming year.

With the launch of this powerful SUV car, South Korean car maker will give run for its money to its competitors and it wants to achieve its target of annual car sales of 300,000 vehicles in India till 2021 .
