Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018: Bookings for Most Awaited Car Begins

After Maruti Suzuki being in news for the most active stocks in terms of value, it is back in action with the launch of its much awaited car- Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018. This is one of the most awaited cars of 2018. This car will give tough competition to Ford, Hyundai, Honda and others. Here are the features, price and booking details for the same.

Swift 2018 Features unveiled

The new Swift will be based on the new generation Heartect platform, which is light in weight and rigid. Earlier Maruti cars like Dzire and Baleno were on the same platform. Talking about this particular car, it will sport the major cosmetic changes on the exterior front. It will come equipped with the revised features like the grille, sleek headlamps, sporty bumper, aesthetic taillike design, chunky rear bumper, lower roofline and much more.

Technical features

When it comes to the engine capacity, this new generation car will have a similar engine capacity as the present one. The petrol version will have 1.2 liters K-series petrol that can develop a maximum power of 84 bhp against the torque of 114Nm.

The oil burner will have a capacity of 1.3 liter DDiS unit that can produce maximum power of 110 bhp with a torque of 170 Nm. As far as the transmission duties is concerned, both the version will be mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox and the company might consider introducing AMT version for petrol and diesel models for the domestic market.

Mileage- When it comes to mileage, the petrol version will offer mileage upto 18 kmpl whereas diesel engine will offer 26 kmpl as the diesel Swift will be lighter and stronger than the compared model.

Apart from these technical features, Maruti Suzuki is anticipated to sport hi-tech features including touchscreen entertainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple Car Play, ABS, automatic LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, climate control, leather upholstery and reversing parking camera.

Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 Price

It is speculated that the price of the base model of Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 will be around 4.8 lakh whilst the top variant will see a price tag of INR 8 lakh (ex-showroom).

Bookings open?

The official bookings may start from the third week of January, a confidant informed. However there are reports that the bookings are open unofficially at select stores.

“The car will be officially launched at the Auto Expo in February, but pre-bookings will start from the third week of this month,” the source said. The Auto Expo is scheduled to be held in Delhi in early February.

Who will be Major competitors?

The third generation Swift 2018 will compete with the cars like Ford Figo, Tata Tiago, Nisan Micra, Honda Brio, Hyundai Grand i10, and other cars in the hatch-back segment.
