NASDAQ Chief Executive Bullish on Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies grabbed a lot of attention from market players like Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and recently NASDAQ chief executive Adena Friedman. She recently said in an interview that she is bullish on cryptocurrencies.

The past few days saw a lot of moves in bitcoin, Ethereum, bitcoin cash, ripple, and other altcoins. There were statements from a few key market players, starting with Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett, who thinks Bitcoin is worth nothing and it may end very badly.

In a similar statement, Bill Gates recently stated that he would short bitcoin if he can, sending a bearish signal to the market. There were a few bearish moves in bitcoin price below $9,500, Ethereum price below $750 and ripple price below $0.85.

Recently, NASDAQ chief executive Adena Friedman said positive things about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in an interview to CNN. She stated:

Cryptocurrencies feels like the “right next step in the space of currency” because a “globalized payment mechanism is a natural fit for the cross-border digital economy.”

She added:

How it evolves and which of the cryptocurrencies may or may not be the one that ultimately gets embraced, I think that really the jury is still out on that. But I do think the idea of a more globalized payment mechanism that is more efficient than what we have today allows for money to transfer across countries and certainly supports the Internet economy.

There were positive moves in the crypto market as bitcoin price remained well bid above the $9,000 support. BTC/USD recovered and is currently moving above the $9,300 level. Similarly, ETH/USD gained traction and moved above $0.85.

In the altcoins section, Dentacoin, Polymath, ZIL and Nexo were best performing cryptocurrencies today. It seems like the market sentiment is back in the green zone and altcoins are likely to accelerate further.

A few other altcoins to watch out are ICX, Skycoin, Ethos, Augur, GNT, 0x, Kyber Network, and Bitcoin Private.
