Free Netflix Subscription: Bharti Airtel Plans to Counter Jio

Once a leading telecom operator Bharti Airtel is in talks with video streaming service provider NetFlix, to offer its content for free to  Airtel TV app users. The spokesperson has confirmed that this free Netflix subscription deal would be available to its users in the coming weeks.

Free NetFlix Subscription?

As per the discussion, the Netflix users will not be charged with the subscription fee but they have to pay for the data that they will access while consuming the content. Especially with the growing web series market, this strategy will definitely attract consumers.

Will this strategic partnership help Airtel to regain its lost market share? Well, if experts are to be believed then this strategic partnership would definitely improve the subscriber base and bring a cheer on the face of investors. Even its share price soared up by 3% after hearing the news. The company  quoted share price of Rs 376.90, up by 8.40% or 2.28% on BSE.

In the end, we would like to conclude that Bharti Airtel’s new partnership would definitely cushion the blow that Jio aggressive data plans created and upcoming Jio Gigafiber launch which has bundle of benefits in very economic range. But will Airtel be able to recoup its losses that is yet to be seen.
