JioGigaFiber: Reliance announces Broadband Services to 1100 Cities

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani launched JioGigaFiber that will provide optical fiber based broadband service. He also launches Second Generation Jio Phone that will have services like WhatsApp and Facebook.

JioGigaFiber: Major Boost to Broadband Internet Service in India

JioGigaFiber is set to be launched on August 15, 2018 that aims to provide broadband internet service to the whole country. 1100 cities will be covered under this scheme that aims to boost the internet service in India.

The two major features of this plan will be:

• Smart Home Technology and
• TV Calling.

The JioGigaFiber broadband will be equipped with set-top-box for TV. The company also aims to start its own E-com site similar to Amazon in coming days. For JioGigaFiber, customers will be allowed to register for the Jio broadband service but the official launching date has yet not been announced.

This optical fiber based broadband service will provide high speed internet, high definition entertainment on HD TV screens, gaming, virtual voice assistance, virtual reality gaming, and digital shopping.

Second Generation Jio Phone

Mukesh Ambani while addressing the gathering also apprised the people that Reliance has also launched second generation Jio Phone that will have QWERTY keypad that will enable services like WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube. The phone can be booked from August 15, 2018 at Rs 2999.


Jio Mansoon Hangama will offer facilities to old Jio Phone users to exchange the old phone with new phone at Rs 501. The said scheme is set to impact the broadband services in India. The advantage that JioGigaFiber will offer as it will improve the broadband service rank of India that is at 134th spot last year.
